At Magdalene Matriculation Higher Secondary School, evaluation is viewed as a continuous and comprehensive process designed to support student learning, identify strengths and areas for improvement, and ensure academic excellence at every level. Our assessment policy is fair, transparent, and developmental in nature.

  • To gauge the effectiveness of teaching and curriculum delivery.
  • To assess and support the academic progress of every student.
  • To offer constructive feedback to students, parents, and teachers.
  • To build motivation, confidence, and a healthy competitive spirit among learners.
  • To ensure students meet learning benchmarks and are prepared for future academic challenges.
  • Monthly Tests: Regular monthly tests are conducted for all subjects to track learning outcomes.Birth Certificate (original + photocopy)
  • Terminal Examinations: Three major examinations (Quarterly, Half-Yearly, and Annual) are conducted in the academic year.
  • Formative Assessments: Assignments, oral tests, projects, and classroom participation are considered as part of internal assessment.
  • Practical Examinations: For higher classes, practical assessments in subjects like Science and Computer Science are compulsory.
  • Progress reports are issued after each assessment cycle.
  • Parents are expected to acknowledge the reports and attend review meetings to discuss their child’s academic standing.
  • Constructive feedback and remedial suggestions are shared to improve performance.
  • A student’s overall performance in monthly tests, assignments, and terminal exams is considered.
  • Consistent attendance, class participation, discipline, and completion of homework are factored into promotion decisions.
  • Students must secure a minimum percentage as per the Tamil Nadu State Board norms to be promoted.
  • Participation in all tests and exams is mandatory; absence without prior approval will result in the student being marked as failed for that assessment.
  • Students who perform below expectations are given remedial classes and personalized support.
  • Parents of underperforming students are requested to cooperate in home-study arrangements or avail school-led coaching.
  • A student who fails in the same class for two consecutive years may not be allowed to continue.

This policy ensures that evaluation at Magdalene School is not just a means of grading but a pathway to meaningful learning and personal development.
